Our Mission and Impact

During a cold winter more than fifteen years ago, Generic Ministry was formed.

Our mission: to provide basic necessities and compassion to people living on the streets in Boston.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday evening we travel the streets and alleys of Boston hand-delivering food, water, clean clothes, blankets and toiletries to the homeless.

Along with these necessities, we supply friendship, respect and encouragement.

We are on the front line. Every Week. All Year.

  • 2 nights/week

  • 52 weeks

  • 2,000 new blankets

  • 3,000 bagged meals

  • 3,000 grateful faces

To prepare, dozens of volunteers from Boston's suburbs spend hours every week sorting donated clothing, stocking the van, making sandwiches, and organizing clothing drives.

We rely solely on volunteers (of all ages!) to ensure we’re stocked with our necessities and able to drive our van into the city twice a week.

We're always looking for kind, friendly faces to join our crew - even just for a few hours a month.
